The Seat

Meet .... the seat. About 3 years ago I met 2 groups of long distance cyclist who all had these rather old fashioned looking English made Brooks saddles on their bikes. After talking with them at length the 2 English boys and a German married couple were quite clear that they regarded the Brooks saddles as the very best and they had a combined 30,000 Km of riding under their belts to prove it. It is history now that I have used Brooks saddles for just over two years and yes, they are the best.

The saddle bag holds essential items such as puncture repair kit, mobile phone, camera and some money during training rides.

Round the Bay in a Day

Bicycle Victoria (BV) stages an annual Round the Bay in a Day 210 km cycling event. As part of my training program I rode the 100 Km section of the event. Yes, I finished ...... in under four hours with an average speed of 26.2 Km

A glorious downhill ride -  sadly it did not last all that long

Penny Farthing Bike Shop

Service is very important to the people at the Penny Farthing bike shop and they are very good at it. But even they will not come to service my bike between Adelaide and Darwin. So I was invited to be taught the fundamentals of emergency bike repairs by the excellent Greg Dickson.

I am reasonably confident that, should the need arise, I can now fix the brakes, the gears, the chain and quite possibly replace broken spokes. And I will carry all the required tools as well as spare parts. Punctures ................ well I have been able to mend them for a very long time.
